Pinterest Card Challenge #5 - Fall Wreath

Hello Folks,

Today I have cards inspired by a picture of a beautiful fall wreath my mom picked from her Pinterest.
Muddah says: it's the time of year when you just feel like adding warm rich colors to your environment.

There you have it. The inspiration:

autumn decoration
Muddah's card:

I used green, orange, and rust colors in my messy-ish wreath. I put some Stickle accents on it to make it pop. Then added a popped up butterfly as the focal point. The rich rusty cardstock captures the fall feeling I liked in the original inspiration. This is a card I would enjoy receiving. Short and sweet today.

Marker's card:

I've kinda always wanted to do a diagonal something in a card, and I was really inspired to do some diagonal stripes when I saw the bench cushion thing that is diagonal in the background of the inspiration photo. I thought it would look cleanest if the large main strip touched each corner, so it looked balanced and un-sloppy. It wasn't too hard to balance the coloured strips on the top and bottom. I really wanted to include red as well as the orange and brown, and it was a little difficult tying it into the card, sp after I put on the large brown, orange, and tiny tiny red medallions, I knew I needed another red element, and the center red medallion works perfectly. I wanted I nice universal greeting whose font matched the style of the medallions, and I was lucky enough to find the perfect sentiment.

Once again, PLEASE comment.
Muddah and I REALLY want to know how people are finding our blog, and what people think/if they are actually reading posts.
As I've said in the sidebar, if you leave two comment  (can be on two different posts) you can decide what pin we use as our next inspiration!

Right then, that's all.

Pinterest Card Challenge #4 - Sunrise Deer Picture

Hello! Dis Marker!

Sorry it's been a few days since we've posted. We made cards but I didn't get around to taking and uploading pictures until today. The pin we used was one I picked from my Pinterest. I was extremely inspired by the colours of the picture, and I was excited to see what we would do with it.

The inspiration:
Calm.
Marker's card:

The biggest inspiration for the card was the colours, and I decided to make them even more bright and exciting than in the picture. The embellishment on the top was made with two concentric framelet dies, and it was meant to mimic the valley the mountains make at the top of the picture. I stamped the flower in black, and then I decided to add a shadow image in Versamark, to mimic the water. I also thought the petals blowing in my card imitated the whole, like, aesthetic of the picture. I'm really happy with this! It might be my favourite card yet!!

Muddah's card:

As usual, I took a more literal interpretation of the inspiration. I am once again amazed at Marker's interpretation because it is not literal; she is able to isolate one or two particular elements and come up with an original idea.

Okay. That said, I layered five colors to mimic the sunrise over the forest. I then stamped silhouetted trees and the reindeer, then sponged vanilla ink to give a foggy effect, which I loved in the inspiration photo. The colors I used are definitely outside my comfort zone, so I'm happy with the challenge.

Muddah.

Welp, yes, thanks for reading and PLEASE leave a comment.

Pinterest Card Challenge #3 - Muddah's Redo

Muddah here.  (Marker makes me say that even though I'm certain you can tell which of us is speaking.)

I've made two more cards for the Christmas table Pinterest inspiration.  My original card was too elegant and lacked the homey quality I loved in the inspiration photo.  Additionally, the original card did not capture the pattern in the rose colored transferware dishes.  I abraded the edges of the cards, added a burlap background, changed the color of the embossing powdered, sponged the edges of the layers and changed the ribbon and the sentiment.  What do you think?

Pinterest Card Challenge #3 - Christmas Table Spread

'Ello there!

Today's cards were inspired by a pin Muddah selected from her Pinterest:
Rustic
 Muddah's Card:

I adore my Aunt Bette's rose colored transferwear dishes. This tablescape pin with its burlap cloth, grapevine balls, and green leaves is both romantic and homey, to me. My card does not do the inspiration justice, but makes a passable Christmas card. I will be posting a second attempt soon, with more red pattern. The "Silver Setting" stamp set from Stampin' Up can also be used to make place cards.

Marker's Card:

Right then, yesh, dis ish me card! I noticed my last two cards were similar, no....had a similar thought process/layout? I'm not sure, but I wanted to do something totally different, and I think it is pretty different from my last two. I wanted a burlappy/floral patterned paper to mimic the burlap tablecloth, and I found the perfect paper. For some reason, I REALLY wanted blue in my card, and it ended up slightly clashing with the green, so I think I'll remake the card with a blue ornament in the middle. Anyway, the three ornaments were meant to mimic the three wood ball things on the table, and the brown on top is the furniture behind the table. I really thought the sentiment should stand out, so I embossed it with white powder, and I love it! The sentiment I found meant so much more to me that "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings," you know? IDK I'm a memory-oriented person, so maybe that's why? Muddah did not like the blue ribbon's placement, but I love it, though I'm willing to try a matching blue stripe at the bottom, like at the top, next time I make the card.

Yesh, thankya much forra reading! (YO!)

Pinterest Card Challenge #2 - Japanese Photo

Marker here!

Today I'll be posting the pictures of the cards Muddah and I made, inspired by this photo from my Pinterest

The inspiration:
Muddah's card:

I was entranced by this pin from Marker. What spoke to me when I saw this pin were the collage of colors, the silhouetted lonely traveler, and the pinpoints of light shining through the rain. Unlike Marker, I could not fathom how to stamp a card from the inspiration, so I started with a collage of magazine Christmas scenes. I used the Vellum Card stock to create a misty effect, and the snowflakes mimic the lights. My embossed post mark in the lower right-hand corner conveys the idea of traveling. All in all, I'm happy with this card though some of my house mates did not understand where the Christmas theme originated.

Marker's card:

I was really excited to see what both I, and Muddah, would come up with from this pin. From the moment I saw it on my "Places to See" board, I knew whatever what came from it would be interesting. I really loved the hint of misty blue sky in the drawing (painting?), and that's what I started with on my card, to get the ideas flowing. I knew I wanted a dark silhouette of some kind as my focal point, and I was able to find an almost perfect stamp for the job. Then, I found two rectangles of patterned paper to mimic the layers of signs. Finally, I thought something in the bottom right-hand corner would complete the card, and I glued down I ribbon, further echoing the layers. Oh yeah, I also decided to stamp a sentiment on the yellow "sign," and I thought this little traveling quote was just perfect, between the TARDIS-like phone booth and the travel-y-ness of the guy in the inspiration.

More cards very soon!

Introduction Part 2

Muddah here.  Marker and I love making cards together, actually we love creating art together including journals, fabric projects, scrapbooks, drawings, paintings, etc.  Most of all we love shopping, buying, and organizing art supplies, all the ones I never got as a child because my parents couldn't afford them. Marker wanted to start a blog together of our projects and while I'm not interested in using the internet to divulge myself to the world, I was persuaded to participate  in the blog for this very specific purpose.

More to come as I feel compelled.....

Pinterest Card Challenge #1 - Mushroom Pouch

Marker here!

Our first post is a couple of cards we made inspired by posts on our Pinterest accounts.  Muddah chose this from her Pinterest and it is originally from this blog.

The inspiration:

Hello Moli
Muddah's card:

I loved the mushroom fabric pouch inspiration, mainly the burlap background fabric, the bright flower fabric applique, and the folksy black stitching for the mushroom "house."  While I tried to recreate the mushroom motif, my card failed to capture the whimsy I loved in the pouch.  No little woodland creatures are living in my mushroom forest.

The creative mojo was missing today.

Marker's card:

First of all, the background was inspired by the background in the photo. The banner is inspired by the banner in the pouch, and the green round focal point is inspired by the green round focal point in the photo. The patterns and stamps are ones I selected to go with card. I think it turned out pretty well.
