Pinterest Card Challenge #2 - Japanese Photo

Marker here!

Today I'll be posting the pictures of the cards Muddah and I made, inspired by this photo from my Pinterest

The inspiration:
Muddah's card:

I was entranced by this pin from Marker. What spoke to me when I saw this pin were the collage of colors, the silhouetted lonely traveler, and the pinpoints of light shining through the rain. Unlike Marker, I could not fathom how to stamp a card from the inspiration, so I started with a collage of magazine Christmas scenes. I used the Vellum Card stock to create a misty effect, and the snowflakes mimic the lights. My embossed post mark in the lower right-hand corner conveys the idea of traveling. All in all, I'm happy with this card though some of my house mates did not understand where the Christmas theme originated.

Marker's card:

I was really excited to see what both I, and Muddah, would come up with from this pin. From the moment I saw it on my "Places to See" board, I knew whatever what came from it would be interesting. I really loved the hint of misty blue sky in the drawing (painting?), and that's what I started with on my card, to get the ideas flowing. I knew I wanted a dark silhouette of some kind as my focal point, and I was able to find an almost perfect stamp for the job. Then, I found two rectangles of patterned paper to mimic the layers of signs. Finally, I thought something in the bottom right-hand corner would complete the card, and I glued down I ribbon, further echoing the layers. Oh yeah, I also decided to stamp a sentiment on the yellow "sign," and I thought this little traveling quote was just perfect, between the TARDIS-like phone booth and the travel-y-ness of the guy in the inspiration.

More cards very soon!
